PRIVACY POLICY
Welcome to the My Tiny Planets Privacy Policy. This policy sets out how we use the personal information which is collected by us on our website (the “Website”). It also explains the types of personal information which we collect and why it is collected.
Please read this policy carefully and check it from time to time. As the Website changes and new services are offered, we may change our practices and this privacy policy accordingly. We will notify you about material changes to our practices and this privacy policy by posting them on this part of the Website.
1. Who We Are
My Tiny Planets Limited, Buckingham House, West Street, Newbury, Berkshire RG14 1BE, England. Company No. 03037450 ("MyTinyPlanets", "we", "us" "our").
2. Our Aim
Our aim is to provide all users of the Website with an enjoyable, educational and safe environment in which to learn and to share with others. Our users’ privacy is important to us, and we comply with applicable legal requirements. Because many visitors to the Website are children, we use certain measures to help children protect their privacy while online. Among such measures, we do not ask children to disclose more personal information about themselves than is necessary to participate in a particular activity on the Website. We try to prevent children from posting their own contact information or the contact information of others. Given that the Website is aimed at children, we do try to ensure that the content is suitable for minors.
3. The Personal Information We Collect
To enable users to participate in the activities on the Website, we ask that each user's account is created and validated by the parent or guardian concerned. To do this, the parent or guardian must provide us with their email address. We will only use this email address to send the parent or guardian a one-time message to activate the user’s account. We do not maintain this e-mail address in a retrievable form in our system after sending the message. [We hash it in our system--a process whereby it is translated into a string of letters and numbers that does not identify the user. Because of this, please ensure that you keep a copy of the sign‑up email you receive safe because this is the only way in which we may be able later to verify that you are the parent or guardian of a child who uses the Website.
If you want your child to enjoy a subscription to use the Website then some additional information relating to your payment will be collected from you by our payment partner in order to process your subscription. This information will be collected subject to the terms and conditions applied by the payment partner. We will not be given this personal information.
As part of our operation of the Website we keep a copy of certain types of data posted onto the Website by users, for certain purposes and in each case for an appropriate amount of time depending on the information concerned.
-
If an account is not used for a continuous period of six months we will delete the names of Users, Planets and Landscapes.
-
Content of chat. This is kept for 2 weeks so that if a complaint is made or a concern raised about the chat during that 2 week period it can be reviewed by our moderators. It is then automatically deleted unless we wish to take further steps in respect of it such as referring it to the authorities.
-
The details of senders and recipients of e-cards. This is kept for a reasonable period of time to ensure delivery of the card and in case of a complaint being made. It is then automatically deleted unless we wish to take further steps in respect of it such as referring it to the authorities.
-
We may collect some personal information, such as email addresses, if we organise other activities such as run competitions in the future. The privacy policy and rules which will apply to these activities will be displayed at the relevant time.
4. How We Use Information
We use the information you provide during the sign‑up process to establish a new user on the Website.
We allow certain third parties who assist with the running of the Website to access this information only to the extent required for their roles on the Website.
We may use non-personally identifiable information to improve the Website including its design and content. Sometimes we ask users to provide us with non-personal information when they are entering information on the Website such as when entering competitions. This is to verify that a real user is entering the information and not a machine.
We may also use non-personally identifiable information to personalise users’ experience on the Website, for example, to point users to areas of the Website we consider they will find particularly exciting or interesting (based on previous use of the Website), and also to offer users certain of our products and services. We may also use this information to tell us more about how the Website is used overall, for example which pages are particularly popular and those which are hardly used. Use of information in this way cannot identify any individual user.
We may sometimes be required by law to disclose personal information to regulatory authorities such as the police. We may also choose to disclose such information to them if we feel that such disclosure may prevent one or more criminal or unlawful acts from taking place.
We may disclose information to a potential new owner of the Website upon a potential change of control, to the extent permitted by law.
We may transfer personal information and store it outside of the jurisdiction in which a user of the Website is located. If we do so, we will put in place appropriate measures to protect such information.
5. Third Parties
Information which is collected through your joining and use of the Website may be shared by us with other parties who assist us in operating the Website, for the purposes of operating the Website. For example, such data may be shared with our moderators and hosting providers to enable them to assist us in the running of the Website.
We do not share your information with third party companies for their own marketing purposes.
6. Cookies
We use software technology called cookies in relation to the Website. Cookies are small text files that are placed in each user's computer browser to make a record of how the Website is used. The cookies simply tell us how many visitors we receive, how often, where they go on the Website and in what order.
7. Chat
We allow a limited chat facility on the Website. We ask that users are supervised by a parent or guardian whenever they are using the chat facility. Users should be careful not to reveal any personal information in the chat facility. If we discover that this has occurred through our monitoring of the chat facility from time to time we will suspend that user's use of the facility and/or the user’s account. Please explain to your child the significance of this issue and the importance of remaining anonymous on the Website and the Internet in general. For more guidance on the subject click here:

Such information is used and stored by our payment partner in order to process your subscription(s).
9. Review of Information by Parent or Guardian
